"I can't read your mind. But I can kick your ass." - Kick-Ass

Based off the Marvel comic, Kick-Ass is a movie starring Christopher Mintz-Plasse (from Superbad), Nicolas Cage and Aaron Johnson. The main character Dave Lizewski is an average high school student who is interested in comic books. He wonders why there are no super heroes in real life, similar to those in his comics. One day he decides to become the super hero Kick-Ass, even though he has no powers or training. Eventually other people are inspired to become a super hero like himself and they form a crime fighting team together.
This movie was incredibly funny and entertaining the whole time. The plot was something completely unexpected and different. The whole movie was sort of a spoof of super hero movies and had a very comical nature. The fight scenes featuring Dave Lizewski as Kick-Ass are absolutely hilarious as it is blatantly obvious that he has no previous fighting experience and is fighting with no clue to as what he is doing.
I would rate this movie an 8 out of 10 and highly recommend watching it.

A closer look: Avatar

Avatar is directed by James Cameron , and starring Sam Worthington , Zoe Saldana.When I first saw the trailer of Avatar I was like "Oh my God not another boring old action movie". I had no intentions in actually watching the film and refused to conform to any social catch that was steaming out of this movie. However I could no longer ignore it any more. The constant change of the new gross profit figures, usually eight to nine digits long, the new craze to have "Avatar" avatars as your Facebook display picture and being recalled as breaking the record of "Titanic" finally had me seduced towards spending 20 bucks on a 3D screening at the local cinemas.
Avatar is about acceptance and respect towards individuality and differences. It is about the human race and their infuriating attitude leading them to believe that the Na'vi' world was beneath them and should therefore be ignored when trying to obtain something sacred from them - the precious metal that is scattered around the rich woodlands. Paraplegic Marine Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) is set on a mission to bond with the natives in the land of Pandora and to brainwash them in thinking that the military are harmless to the to the natives. However, Jake sees this journey as an emotional turmoil as he falls in love with the a beautiful native Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and realises the selfish and inhumane ways our race has become.
With a person like me who was so against this whole action movie phase, I'm surprised that it actually got my attention and forced me to bow down on my knees and say ever so painfully on what an awesome movie it was. I would definitely give this movie a 9 out of 10 for its heart touching story and eyelid-glued-to-the-socket graphics and animations.
Other opinionated review about Avatar contrasts the idea of technology is comparison to other movies, i particular found this blog review very interesting.

They're spitefully romantic :"10 things i hate about you"

'10 Things I Hate About You' is directed by Gil Junker, starring Heath ledger, Julia stiles, Joseph Gorden-Levitt and Larisa Olenek. Most of you guys probably watched 10 things i hate about you which is pretty old, however in remembrance of the best Australian actor Health ledger i decided to bring it back to the view.
Adapted from the Shakespeare's play "The Taming of the Shrew," 10 Things I Hate About You first started up in a high school setting, where we are introduced to Cameron (Joseph Gorden-Levitt) who finds himself falling in love with a snobby girl called Bianca (Larisa Oleynik). Bianca's dad is very strict as he imposed a rule that Bianca is not allowed to date until her older sister Kat (Julia Stiles) dates first. For Cameron to have the opportunity to date Bianca, he came with an idea , and that's tricking the" pretty-boy " model called Joey Donner into thinking that he will get to take Bianca out if he pays someone to take Kat out . So Joey Donner decided to take Patrick-Verona, "the bad boy" to win Kat's heart. Patrick is well known for his mysterious personality, as some people say that he ate a live duck once, while others say that he lit a state trooper on fire and so on. In an attempt to get Kat a boyfriend, Cameron came up with the idea to have the school stud, Joey Donna, bribe Patrick Verona, all this is get Kat to date Patrick. Eventually Patrick went out with Kat, and Cameron went out with Bianca.
I personally like this movie because that's when Heath ledger was in his teenage years, and i rate this move 8 out of 10 as it was entertaining.

What would you do on a night like this? Date Night

How can you possibly miss a movie with Steve Carell, so when Date Night hit the big screens, I grabbed my keys and the nearest person and headed straight to the cinemas. Ok, fine that’s not how it happened, but I wish it did. Anyhow the story of when and how I watched it will be reserved for a later time. Now it’s time to fill you guys in of what you’re missing out on.
Date Night is about a happily married couple with two children, they are living ordinary lives with managing work, family and social affairs. Every ‘one’ night they get to themselves, Phil and Claire get the baby sitter in and call it a ‘date night’, where they can forget about everything and focus on their ‘love’. The movie is around one very special night, which goes horribly wrong, when Phil decides to take some ‘no shows’ reservation in a very popular city restaurant. That was their first mistake, the movie goes on with one problem after another and during this, Phil and Claire grow closer to each other and overcome a few issues which bite any ‘ordinary’ couple.

Date night has the classic bad guys vs. good guys theme, and there is no guessing in who wins in the end. Overall I rate this movie an 8 out of 10, for its comedy, story, and just being a great feel good movie.

"When the moon is full the legend comes to life." The Wolfman

This movie is a remake of the original 1941 "Wolfman" starring Benico Del Toro, Emily Blunt, Hugo Weaving and Anthony Hopkins. The protagonist of this movie Lawrence Talbot returns home after discovering his brother has gone missing. When Lawrence returns home, his father informs him that his brothers mauled body has been found. Lawrence makes a pact to discover how his brother was killed and starts by visiting a travelling gypsie camp which was in the area at the time. While at the camp a mysterious wolf-like creature descends upon the camp and bites Lawrence in the shoulder. When the next full moon comes he transforms into the Wolfman and kills many townspeople.
I have mixed opinions about this movie, it was very dark and constantly had you on the edge of your seat. The acting in this movie was excellent, but the special effects used were a big let down. I would give this movie a 7.5 out of 10, it would be higher if the special effects were better.

The Greatest Danger is already on Board "The Poseidon Adventure"

I'm sure everyone here has watched Titanic right? well "the new adventures of the Poseidon" staring Adam Baldwin, Steve Guttenberg and Bryan Brown is exactly the same thing but removing all the romantic scenes and the lovey dovey. It contains more action and adventure. Even though it's 4hours long, it was really an enjoyable movie. Compared to the Titanic where the ship collided with an ice berg, the SS Poseidon (bigger than the Titanic)is faced with a terrorist act. The plan to capsize the ship on New Year's eve. A rag-tag group of survivors, spearheaded by a priest and a homeland security agent, must journey through the upside down vessel and attempt an escape.
Spoiler part: I don't get how it can be a miracle that 9 survived and 3700 tourist died?
Overall i rate this movie 7 out of 10

Law abiding citizen, starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler, is as the title puts it about a ‘Law Abiding Citizen’, who out of frustration with the ‘system’ takes justice into his own hands after, he is inflicted with injustice. The movie starts of with the murder of his family and goes on with Clyde (Butler) who sets to avenge their deaths. He is an intelligent man, who out smarts the ‘system’ on a number of occasions. I will leave the how for you to see, wouldn’t want to spoil the movie.
This thriller Law abiding citizen was a little too graphic for my liking, I remember telling my sister during one of the bloody graphic scenes in the movie “let’s go watch the tooth fairy, in cinema 5”, so you can imagine how graphic some of the scenes of this movie are.
Walking out at the end of the movie will make you think 'wow what a movie' and I rate this a 7.5 out of 10.

'There is a place. Like no place on Earth. A land full of wonder, mystery, and danger!' Alice in wonderland

Being a fan of Tim Burton and Jonny Depp, as soon as I heard of the movie ‘Alice in Wonderland’ by Tim Burton I couldn’t wait for its arrival on the big screens. 4th March came and the wait was over. Once I watched the movie, I was rather disappointed by it. This movie crushed my expectations and all the hype that was created before its release, wasn’t worth it in my opinion.

The movie starts off with curious young Alice at her engagement party; she is faced with the decision of whether or not to accept the proposal. Everyone wishes for her to do so, but she is inclined otherwise. She is an individual with a mind of her own. She wants some time alone and is led by the white rabbit to escape the crowd, like in the old production she falls down a hole and is surrounded by talking creatures. This other world is a world which Alice had nightmares about as a child. Alice soon learns the reason behind this; she has to help this ‘Wonderland’ to be ruled by the right queen the ‘White queen’ and has to fight the evil red queen to achieve this.
Overall I rate Alice in Wonderland a 6 out of 10.

How can a group of Marines hold such an evil desire "The Rock"

It all begins with an FBI agent and a convict, who breaks into the former Alcatraz prison in order to stop a renegade general from destroying San Francisco. The renegade (including Ed Harris who plays 'General Francis X. Hummel, USMC') currently have 81 tourist as hostages. Their leader demands $100 million to be paid, as restitution to families of Marines who died in covert ops. Otherwise, he will launch 15 rockets carrying deadly VX gas into the San Francisco Bay area.
It was really exciting during the three hours, packed with wholesome action, through shooting and destruction of various objects. My favourite scene had to be the chase involving the Hummer and the Ferrari down California Street. In the final climax the Ferrari is destroyed after colliding with a tram. For the men out there, the movie contains extreme violent, exhausting action and macho posturing making it an unlikely ticket choice for women and children.
Overall i rate this movie 8 of 10

Vampire or Werewolf choice is yours:Twilight Saga New Moon

Twilight saga is directed by David Slade and starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Patterson and Taylor Lautner. Twilight falls under the genre young adult, fantasy and romance.
You guys probably have watched twilight; however twilight new moon is far more dramatic this time. The movie starts off with Bella's 18th birthday party which was prepared by Edward Cullen the vampire she liked and his family. Whilst unwrapping her presents Bella gets a paper cut, the blood scent angers Edwards adopted brother Jasper and he attempts to kill her. Edward and his family leave Forks because he thinks his presence is affecting or endangering Bella's life. This leads to Bella falling into a deep depression. To cope with this, she tries to occupy herself, and during that she develops a close bond with a guy called Jacob black who was helping her get through the stuff times.
Later on things start to get out of hand and only Jacob who is a werewolf is left protecting Bella from Victoria a ‘not so nice’ Vampire. Meanwhile due to a series of miscommunications Edward thought that Bella is dead, and so he decides to commit suicide in Volterra Italy, but he stopped by Bella and his sister Alice.
Twilight saga new moon was entertaining and it also was highly dramatic , overall I will give it a rating of 9 out of 10.
